Students will receive an orientation to the Electrical trade, electrical safety, introduction to electrical circuits, electrical theory, introduction to the National Electrical Code (NEC®), device boxes, hand bending, raceways and fittings, conductors and cables, basic electrical construction drawings, residential electrical services, and electrical test equipment.
This course requires students to apply their understanding of and engage in safety practices essential to the construction trades. Students will also learn basic planning and estimating skills for trade-based projects.
Students will earn Level 1 NCCER training in electrical with the capability to move straight into a Registered Apprenticeship to become a journeyman electrician. Students will receive an OSHA 10 certification as well as other certificates in the trade related to various wiring and conduit work. Students will finish this program and earn up to 6 college credits through Hocking College.
