Pre-apprenticeship program for high school seniors. The Phlebotomy Technician course prepares students for national certification and entry level employment by covering topics to include OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and CDC standards, therapeutic communication techniques, law and ethics, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology. Students develop proficiency in phlebotomy and dermal puncture as well as specimen collection and testing for health maintenance and disease prevention.

The Phlebotomy course is a none credit program, but students will have the opportunity to prepare for and take the nationally recognized exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician once they have passed the initial coursework with a grade of 70% or higher.

This is also a great pathway for students looking to pursue other healthcare professions in the future.

Adult Program

The Phlebotomy Technician course prepares students for national certification and entry level employment by covering topics to include OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and CDC standards, therapeutic communication techniques, law and ethics, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology.

Phlebotomy training questions

Where are the phlebotomy classes held?

Classes are held at the Fairfield County Workforce Center, 4465 Coonpath Rd NW, Carroll, OH 43112 — about 15 minutes from Lancaster and 25 minutes from Columbus.

What certification do students earn?

Students who pass the coursework with a grade of 70% or higher may sit for the nationally recognized exam to become a Certified Phlebotomy Technician.

Is the program free?

The high school pre-apprenticeship program is provided at no cost to eligible Fairfield County seniors. Adults should contact the Center about course fees and financial aid, including Pell Grants, WIOA, and TechCred. See Adult Workforce.

Do I earn college credit?

The Phlebotomy course is a non-credit program, but it is a strong pathway for students who plan to pursue other healthcare professions.
